Hard Now, Easy Later

Hard now, easy later...

What do I mean? I mean showing up and making those difficult but beneficial decisions now, even though it's hard and you have a lot going on, so you can enjoy your time later. These early decisions to delay gratification are incredibly hard to make in this day and age, but as we have learned, it is life changing.

My husband, Dylan, and I met while we were both Active Duty military (Navy). We married after knowing each other for just 4 months! Crazy, I know. Very cliché but, when you know, you really know. Unfortunately, this meant the military was about to take us on a wild ride apart from each other. It's okay, "hard now, easy later."

We both immediately went to separate ships after training school and so began the underways and deployments. Fortunately, I actually never ended up going underway because my ship was in the shipyards, but my husband was on back to back underways/deployments. We had began trying for our first child, Dexter, which took an entire year for us to finally conceive. Dylan nearly missed his birth due to pandemic restrictions! Shortly after Dexter was born, we began cloth diapering on a whim since disposables were hard to come by in our area. We ended up loving cloth more than we could've ever imagined! So my gears started turning...

Despite only cloth diapering for a little under a year, I opened The Basic Stitch on March 3, 2021. I seriously had turned cloth diapering into a hobby I ADORED! But oh boy, I did not know what I was getting into. I started learning more and more about cloth to hopefully turn this into a successful business to support my family one day. Having this as my goal, I continued to remind myself, "hard now, easy later."

After many research-filled, sleepless nights, we have officially become sustainable enough for myself to stay home with our children. While we aren't quite where we want to be for fully sustaining our whole family's life style with TBS, we are SO incredibly thankful! We know the day will come that my husband can also say goodbye to his 9-5 and we will finally get to enjoy the "easy later" aspect of our motto. :)

We are eternally grateful for all the love and support everyone has shown us that has allowed for our continued growth. We can't wait to see where all TBS may take us and we are STOKED to have y'all along for the ride!
